Jeffs' Home Country Weekly Magazine
Sept. 2005

Jeff, Kim and Dayton go home to Jeffs family for Christmas...

Jeff participated once again at the Quail Unlimited hunt in Albany, GA. Jeff said that again, it was a wonderful hunt and made lots of memories. Here's Jeff with some of his hunting partners at the Partridge Pea Plantation.

The next day, Jeff joined in the hunt at the Fillingame Shooting Preserve.

Jeff and family featured in the August 2004 Country Weekly.

While out in Washington, Jeff had the opportunity to go Pheasant hunting.
He did well, bagging two pheasants and a fast-flying grouse.

Country Goes Huntin'
Jeff and buddies Daryle, Chad, and Rhett just returned from a quail and duck hunt in lower Georgia. They were treated like kings at the Southwind Plantation. Jeff (far left) was joined by Sam Klement from Spectrum Outdoors and Michael Waddell from Real Tree Outdoors. After the hunt the guys gather around for some "singin'".

Jeff's a Dad!!!

Jeff was in Reno, NV. on the morning of November 1st, when he got a call from his wife Kim. Jeff had just taken his first sip of coffee at a restaurant at the casino where he and his Honky-tonk pals were playing. Kim informed Jeff that "it was time" and headed for the hospital. After jumping on the first plane outbound to Nashville, Jeff finally arrived just 30 minuets before wife, Kim gave birth to a healthy 5 pound 11 oz. baby boy. Dayton Grei Herndon Carson is pictured above with proud pop, above. More pics to come.

All Terrain!
As you may recall, Jeff endured a near death experience when he broke his back in a sledding accident in February 2002. But that hasn't slowed him down. He isn't afraid of a little adventure! Jeff is back on track and has participated in an adventurous outdoor excursion as part of a made-for-television taping.
On September 2, Jeff (along with his Honky Tonk Tailgate tour mates) tore across the Pennsylvania countryside aboard an ATV for the Outdoor Channel's taping of "Fisher's ATV World." As part of the all terrain quest, the reality television show took the Honky Tonk Three into their element-- dove hunting and bass fishing. The guys were taken to "Gander Mountain" sporting goods and treated to a shopping spree to ready themselves for the upcomming hunt Fishers ATV world is now carried on "The Men's Channel".

ROAR!
While performing at Sea World in San Antonio, Texas, Jeff had the opportunity to get close and personal with Shamu the Killer Whale, and with "Clyde", a 400 pound Sea Lion, pictured here. Jeff was taken around back and hung out with Clyde after the two of them finished each of their shows. It was a typical 95 degree Texas day, Jeff was envious that Clyde had the cooler of the two performance arenas.

Hitchin' A Ride
After wrapping a show in Owensville, MO (as part of the Honky Tonk Tour), Jeff's personal show schedule took him next to WPOR's Picnic in the Park, Portland Maine. As part of the itinerary, Jeff was to ride the honky tonk bus to St. Louis where he would catch a plane in the morning direct to Portland. After calculating and considering the amount of sleep Jeff was to enjoy, Jeff realized pillow time was limited.

"As the night grew later, I realized there was not going to be much time for sleep if I didn't get out Owensville earlier." (Enter, Jeff Carson Fans) "Then I bumped into some of my most favorite fans," says Carson with a sheepish grin, "I put on a sad puppy dog face and bummed a ride with them (Linda, Brenda and Stephanie) right then and there. They drove me straight to the airport hotel in St. Louis where I got some good shut-eye before flying out the next morning to Portland. I owe them one, not only for a good night's sleep, butŠ to get my guitar and luggage in the trunkŠ they had to leave a lawn chair behind. I suppose they could have tied me to the roof! " laughs Carson.

In addition to Jeff's solo tour, he continues to perform as part of the Honky Tonk Tailgate Party which will include shows in Colorado, Michigan, New York, Ohio, Wisconsin, Missouri and Texas.

WINTER SNOW
Jeff and Kim Carson headed to Arkansas during the past Christmas holiday so Jeff could visit his family. On the way back, they got a chance to celebrate the season by snapping this photo during the snow fall.

We'll Go Honky Tonkin'!

' Jeff is rejoining the "Tailgate Party" by popular demand, with buddies, Daryle Singletary, Rhett Akins and Chad Brock. M-O-O-ving On Down The Road

By popular demand, Curb/Asylum recording artist Jeff Carson will return to the Honky Tonk Tailgate Party, a concert tour featuring Daryle Singletary, Rhett Akins and a newcomer to the 2003 tour, Chad Brock. Although Jeff's official start date to re-join the tour was not until mid-July, he's already been out for a test drive. Rhett, Daryle and Chad were scheduled to perform an acoustic show for Kicks-96 (WXFL-FM)-- Muscle Shoals. Due to the busy summer tour season, however, the Honky Tonkers ran into difficulty securing a bus driver. Among his many creative talents and skills, it just so happens their tour mate, Jeff Carson, has his CDL (commercial driver's license) to drive a bus. In dire need, the guys thought, "what the heck, let's call Jeff and see if he'll drive for us!" At their service, Jeff agreed and was their official driver for the weekend.
The road story according to Jeff: "One of the guys who runs sound for the tour didn't know that I was driving the bus. He later told me that he saw me come out of the hotel and hop into the driver's seat. Scratching his head, he asked one of the other band members, 'is that Jeff Carson driving?' I think I took him by surprise. "You know, I am a smooth driver (Jackie Gleason's got nothing over me!), but about 2 miles just outside of Nashville, we came to some road construction. At one spot in the road it dipped a bit and the road crew had put metal sheet over the tarmac. Being the road veteran that I am, I thought I had successfully maneuvered over the rough patch. But, I recognized a "M-O-O-i-n-g" sound coming from the back of the bus. The band was actually insinuating that I was driving like I was driving cattle truck. (If they only smelled as sweet!) In addition to hauling his cohorts, Jeff was added to the line-up as a special surprise guest for the folks who attended the show "From Muscle Shoals to Music Row-- LIVE." Jeff performed with Rhett, Daryle and Chad in the round.

Jeff Returns From Down Under!
Jeff just completed a television shoot that took place at Cumberland Caverns (McMinville, TN). Jeff was invited to CO-host the video show Kari on MainStreet (featured on Charter Cable Systems in Tennessee, Georgia and Kentucky). In addition to CO-hosting the show (while exploring the caverns with the show's host), he performed his new single "I Can Only Imagine" in a cavern appropriately named the Cathedral.
Cumberland Caverns
displays some of the largest underground rooms (caves) in eastern America. It also features waterfalls, gleaming pools, spectacular formations, and a 3/4 ton chandelier.
Kari on MainStreet with CO-host Jeff Carson will air the first week in July. (Check local listings.)

JEFF CARSON DEPUTIZED

When some special friends of Jeff Carson asked he and Kim to be special guests at their daughter's wedding, they jumped at the chance to visit. The family has three daughters and Jeff was asked to sing at one of the daughter's wedding. Once it was confirmed that the Carson's planned to attend, Mrs. Bramlett asked if Jeff would sing a song at the wedding. Jeff agreed to single "Butterfly Kisses", and "As One As Two Can Get", as a special tribute on their special day. Several years ago, Mrs. Bramlett had gotten Jeff a personalized sheriff's badge from the Pontotoc Sheriff's department with his name on it. On this visit, she set up a very special surprise with their Sheriff, Leo Mask. She arranged to have Sheriff Mask attend the reception at their home. Afterward he took Jeff Carson to the courthouse where he was officially deputized. While in Pontotoc, the family threw a baby shower for the Carson's.

Ultimate Talent Search and Seminars
On December 6, 2002, Jeff Carson was asked to perform at Embassy Music's Ultimate Talent Search and Seminars at the Ramada Inn in Nashville. Independent artists and songwriters had the dream opportunity to participate in three days of educational classes, showcases, concerts and networking opportunities with record label professionals. Carson performed for the songwriter/artist's panel discussing the steps he took to achieve his recording contract. He sang his charted hits, songs he had written, and answered questions from an attentive crowd.
One young lady in the front row asked if he could sing "Real Life" because it was her favorite song. When he was finished, the crowd broke into thunderous applause. The young lady cried not realizing it had been Carson who released the Top 10 hit. She just knew it was her favorite song and was totally embarrassed she had not associated it with him. S

CARSON SIGNS WITH CURB PUBLISHING - Jeff Carson has signed with Curb Music Publishing as an exclusive writer. Carson has been with the Curb Records label since 1994. In 1995, he scored number one hits with "Not On Your Love" and "The Car." He followed it with the top-five single, "Holdin' Onto Something." By year-end, Billboard Magazine had named Carson one of their "Top 10 New Artists," and "Not On Your Love," its Top 15 song of the year in 1995. In 1996, Carson won the "Video Of The Year" award from the Academy of Country Music for "The Car." In 1998, he scored a number one hit with "Shine On" on the Christian chart, then scored # 1 again in 2000 with "Scars & All" and 2001 with "Real Life." In 2001, he celebrated a top ten single with "Real Life" on the national country charts. Carson co-write the song "Until Forever's Gone" recorded by Kenny Rogers on his "There You Go Again" album. He also co-penned "Until We Fall Back In Love Again".

"SHINE ON INSPIRES CHILDREN" -- Last year, Jeff was made aware that his single and video for "Shine On" has been an inspiration to children throughout America. Several FFA programs use the song as their theme song and one Nashville School, St. Henry's, uses it as part of their virtue program. " 'Shine On' was brought to my attention by one of the 5th grade teachers who said her own children had fallen in love with the song, sang it around the house all the time, and seemed to really grasp the message of kindness beginning with knowing we are loved," noted school principal Sister Mary Anne. "We introduced it into the classroom and the children at all levels really took it to heart immediately as a theme. It's rare to walk the halls out here, in fact, and not hear the children from one classroom or another singing "Shine On" at the top of their lungs. JEFF and his song have provided a wonderful added inspiration to the Virtue Education program this school year," Sister Mary Anne added Recently, Carson received an e-mail from a schoolteacher in Greensburg, IN who extols the virtues of the song through out their school. "Shine On" was adopted as the school theme for this year. Washington Elementary had posters made of the song lyrics to post in every classroom and in the hallways. The school is unique in that they have only fourth and fifth grade students. They have 12 classrooms and every teacher decorated with something to go along with your words to "Shine On." The classrooms have everything from lighthouses, to smiling sunflowers, to stages with shining stars, to crescent moons and stars. The teacher who emailed Jeff teaches fifth grade and used blue moons, with sunglasses and black bow ties (designed off the 1980's McDonalds commercial of Mac Tonight) with blue lights around the window to the classroom, a blue neon star, and a blue moon with the words "SHINE ON" actually painted on my classroom wall.

JEFF COMMANDEERS "THE BOSS'S" BUS!

Maybe it's the fact that Jeff has always been a big Bruce Springsteen fan that made heaven smile upon him on a recent road trip to Utah. Departing with his band from Nashville recently for some road dates out West, Jeff had hardly pulled his cowboy hat low over his eyes before trouble on the bus started to clatter. Arising from his bunk to see what has the matter, Jeff was besieged with a litany of "worst case scenarios" for veteran road warriors familiar with the perils of leased buses.
The air went out and the band was over heating. The generator running the back-up air went out on strike. The engine sounded like it was gasping out its last mile.
And just when it seemed things couldn't look worse, the front windshield they were looking through beginning falling out of its casing.
Sidelined to assess their damage, Carson and crew were suddenly overtaken by another bus that had been following them a distance back on the road. The driver pulled his bus over, opened the door and descended roadside to see if he could be of assistance to his fallen comrades.
As fate would have it that sweltering day, the mystery bus was empty-deadheading back from having just dropped off Boz Scaggs and crew-and on the way to pick up "The Boss," Bruce Springsteen for a tour date. Good news was that before boarding The Boss, the driver had time load up Jeff Carson and crew and carry them to their next concert date. In a flash, the Carson entourage were riding high-excitedly calling friends back in Nashville to tell them Bruce Springsteen had rescued them. Grins Jeff: "The Boss was always one of my heroes-and now more than ever!"
Hey, what are friends in high places for?

JEFF CARSON @ CARNEGIE HALL

From his visit to New York's Ground Zero in the days after September 11th, JEFF CARSON came full circle to be back in New York City on March 28th, representing a new generation of country music on "A Night Of Encouragement," staged at Carnegie Hall.

Jeff's performance of the evening was highlighted by a song especially written in memory of Todd Beamer, hero of the ill-fated flight over Pennsylvania.

The concert, featuring a cross genre of artists, officially announced the launch of "Encourage America" and the "Encourage America Center," which will provide free ongoing counseling services to anyone directly or indirectly impacted by the events of 9/11, including families, victims, and local residents. The concert was sponsored in part by the Thomas Kinkade Foundation.

The evening's program was taped and nationally syndicated as an Easter weekend radio special over the Salem Radio Network.

In addition to CARSON, other performers confirmed included Sister Sledge, contemporary Christian group, Selah, Nicole C. Mullen, Anointed, Crystal Lewis, Phil Keaggy, speakers Steve Brown and Dr. George Wood, and a list of athletes and
national political figures.

JEFF Carson's appearance on-stage at Carnegie Hall represented a new wave of country music in New York's "Grandest Hall." From the advent of the '40 and '50's performances of country greats such as Ernest Tubb, Minnie Pearl, and Lester Flatt & Earl Scruggs, through legendary names such as Johnny Cash, Roy Acuff, Bill Monroe, Buck Owens, Eddy Arnold, Carl Perkins, Roy Clark, Freddy Fender, Kenny Rogers, Chet Atkins, to latter days names such as Clint Black and Reba McEntire.
Jeff Carson's Carnegie Hall performance will place him in rarified company-a fact not lost on the Curb artist.

"When they told me I was going to be playing Carnegie Hall, I must've held on the phone a full minute before I could say anything," commented Carson in Nashville.
"There's no words to describe how much this means to me."

Complimentary tickets were distributed to a broad list of New York City firemen and policemen, Port Authority Transit workers, rescue workers, ground zero workers,Wall Street workers, and the families and friends of those lost in the tragic events.

Scooby Dooby Dooooo!!!

JEFF was whistling a 'toon of a different sort as his favorite television buddy, Scooby Doo was in town with his road show. If the famous pup had hoped for a little "low profile" time to hang with friends, he was dog meat as Jeff took him on a whirlwind tour of the town. Wheeling up together to the Ryman in the high profile green and purple "Mystery Machine," JEFF gave the illustrious pooch a tour and some photo ops at the historic spot, where they were greeted by Senior Marketing Manager, Brent Hyams, for an official welcome to the original home of the Opry. On hand too at the Ryman was the man who takes the words right out of ol Scooby's mouth-air personality Scott Innes who is the actual professional voice of the famous canine. Scott had left his afternoon drive time microphone at WYNK-FM in Baton Rouge, to collar his old buddies Carson and Doo for a few kibbles and bits of industry quality time. When not putting words in Scooby's mouth,Scott poses quite successfully as one of the most important air voices in country music from his Clear Channel perch in Louisiana. Jeff also wheeled the "Mystery Machine" and his buddies-Scooby and Scott -over to the yard he calls home on Music Row - Curb Records - where there were plenty of new friends to play with. Recalling happy memories of their days at home in front of Saturday morning television, the Curbsters turned out in mass force to prove to Scooby what everyone in Nashville already knows: they too can run with the big dogs.
Scooby passed the urge to stop at several fire hydrants as Jeff delivered he and the Mystery Machine safely back to their luxury accommodations at the Hermitage.
When last seen, the world's most famous 'toon dog licked Jeff's face good-bye, and while panting for breath outside the hotel, was heard telling a local reporter that Hollywood was an easy dog biscuit compared to the pace of Music City!

Country Weekly recently visited Jeff at his home to see all of his get well cards that's he's received after his sledding accident. The pictures will be in an upcoming issue.

Todd Beamer Project
Jeff Carson joined the cast of artists who recorded songs for the Todd Beamer album project. Jeff recorded a song called "Don't Ask Why". ``Let's Roll,'' titled after the now infamous quote from Beamer himself, will feature an incredibly diverse group of artists, including Dove Award/Song of the Year winner Nicole C. Mullen, Chaka Kahn, dc Talk, Wynonna, Dove Award winner, Selah, Steven Curtis Chapman, and more. Mullen sings the project's first single, the passionate and emotion-filled ``I See You in His Eyes,'' which will be released to radio soon. Dc Talk performs the patriotic and energetic title track, and a group recording of ``The Lord's Prayer'' (with special guests to be announced soon) will also be on the CD.Tony McAnany (Chant, Missy Elliott, Jennifer Knapp) who is producing the project was also one of Beamer's good friends. ``Lisa called me soon after September 11th, wanting to do something to help the Foundation and the other families that lost loved ones on flight 93. I immediately called Nicole and
David (Mullen), and we wrote 'I See You in His Eyes.' everything just grew from there.'' Tony continues, ``Our hope is to provide music of hope for our country. We have some of the most incredible talent, recording studios and studio musicians donating their time to be a part of this project. It's
really remarkable and is a testament to Todd's life and faith in God and how he gave so much to so many.'' If all goes according to plan, the album will be released on Curb Records on March 11, 2002. Approximately $8.00 from every CD will be donated to the Todd Beamer Foundation to benefit the 11,000
children who lost a parent in the September 11 World Trade Center tragedy. For more information, you can check out the site at www.BeamerFoundation.org

Photo Session
It has certainly been a very busy past six months for Jeff. This spring has
been full of interviews, photo sessions, and planning meetings to get ready
for the new single. On March 26, Jeff flew back to Nashville from Utah just
in time to shoot a photo session with well-known photographer, Russ
Harrington. The day started early and was filled with many stops outside the
Nashville area. Russ scouted out several locations in the area about an hour
south of Nashville. Some of the photos were shot at the Milky Way Farms
estate that was built in the 1930’s. The estate was built by the man that
invented the Mars and Milky Way candy bar. This was the first time a photo
session had been shot on the grounds and within the estate itself. The farm
is now a bed and breakfast that caters to individuals and corporations
planning business meetings. The dining room table seats 40 for dinner. It
is so wide across that one has to step on the table to reach the food in the
middle. The new photo session is used throughout the website. Other shots
will be added throughout the year and closer to the release date of the
album.

Be sure to keep an eye out for upcoming news on Jeff, either on his NEWS
page or on the HOME page where we will post alerts on press, TV, and online
interviews. There is sure to be lots of new features in upcoming magazine
articles and more. Keep checking back for updates on what is new for Jeff

Angeles recently, he taped liners for them. The spots should star airing
the week of May 14 running one to two times per week. Maybe you will catch
one of them!
http://www.ventureoutdoorstv.com; On September 4, be watching the
Venture Outdoors TV Show on Foxx Sports Network for the hunting episode with
Jeff Carson and Scott Tollett. The duck and upland bird hunt was shot on
location in Lake Charles, LA in January of 2001. They will also have a
backstage interview with Jeff Carson where they will feature music from
“Real Life”. If you miss it in September, the program will re-air again
the first week in December.

Country Radio Seminar

CRS time came and what a big time it was! Jeff and manager, Shelia Shipley
Biddy, visited with radio program directors, DJ’s, syndicated radio, and
more, introducing the new single to come. The excitement was already. A lot
of programmer shad heard about the new single and were asking when they
would get their own copy. It wasn’t long before it managed to sneak out to
a few programmers who couldn’t wait for the label to officially ship it and
they added it immediately. So stayed tuned!!!! Let us know if you hear it
on a station near you…
